Canon EOS 700D with Samyang 500mm f/6.3 Lens


Tonight there has been a truly wonderful natural phenomena, a Tolal Eclipsed Moon at Perigee, and thanks to the indications of SpaceWeather.com, I managed to capture the Ozone fringe during the final totality approach! The picture is an integration of 100 (on 200) shots with my Reflex Camera Canon 700D combined with a Samyang Catadrioptic 500mm f/6.3 Lens. The image was taken from Pisa, Italy, about two minutes prior the begin of the full totality phase. There are obviously the reddish and brownish tones of colors, but near the lower border we can clearly see a bluish/turquoise tone. What caused it? The sunlight that manage to reach the Moon after passing trough our atmosphere is normally scattered, leavign only the red wavelenghts, but when it passes trought the Ozone layer, the blue wavelenghts are the ones that are not scattered, and we can clearly see this phenomena on the Moon! A bluish ring around the reddish area that defines the Umbra region, cast by our very planet in space.
