Description:

Attached is my image of the Pleiades, a stellar cluster surrounded by a striking reflection nebula. Unlike most, where dust is a remnant of star formation, the Pleiades' dust originates from the Taurus Molecular Cloud, a region the cluster is currently passing through. Since this dust isn’t gravitationally bound, in about 770,000 years, the nebula will vanish, leaving only the open cluster. The image was spectrophotometrically calibrated using Gaia DR3/SP data for accurate colors. While blue dominates due to dust scattering, subtle Hα emission hints at a more complex gas-stellar interaction, revealing the dynamic nature of this celestial phenomenon.
