Description:
The Veil Nebula is a vast, diffuse nebula visible in the southeastern part of the constellation Cygnus. The brightest part is the easternmost one, known as NGC 6992. Higher magnifications reveal that each filament is actually made up of a network of smaller, increasingly thinner filaments. The nebula NGC 6990 is nicknamed the "Witch's Broom" for its distinctive broom-like shape. Their distance from Earth varies between 1,500 and 2,400 light-years. The image was taken from Campo Cecina (Carrara) with approximately 10 hours of exposures of 60-120 and 180 seconds
