Titan Transit Across Saturn – August 19, 2025 By Braulio Guerra Urbiola La Azotea de Orión Observatory, Querétaro, Mexico On August 19, 2025, I captured one of the most fascinating celestial alignments in our Solar System: the transit of Titan across Saturn. In this image, the dark circular shadow of Titan can be seen cast upon Saturn’s southern hemisphere, while Titan itself appears to the left of the planet, beginning its passage in front of the cloud tops. A transit occurs when a moon or planet passes directly between its parent body and the observer, temporarily crossing the disk of the larger object. This rare geometry is only visible from Earth when Saturn’s rings are nearly edge-on, allowing Titan’s orbit to align with our line of sight. Titan —Saturn’s largest moon and the secon
