Description:

The Triangulum Galaxy (M33) drifts through a faint foreground of interstellar cirrus in this deep portrait of one of the Local Group’s most delicate spirals. Brown filaments trace high-latitude dust in the Milky Way, reflecting the combined light of distant stars, while faint red H-alpha veils reveal widespread ionized gas along this line of sight Beyond this translucent foreground, M33’s loosely wound spiral disk glows with scattered H II regions marking active star formation. The layered scene emphasizes depth, showing how even our clearest extragalactic views are shaped by structure within our own galaxy.
