Equipment:

Samyang 135mm

Description:

A slightly cropped down version of a 4 panel mosaic of the Vela SNR and surrounds. The image shows the result of a supernova explosion 1,000 years ago. This is a duoband colour image using an ASI533MC Pro camera and a Samyang f/2 135 mm lens. A total of 9 hours of data with 150s guided subs and the lens stopped down to f/4 to prevent band shift of the filter. The final image was processed to highlight the ionised oxygen filaments in the more diffuse hydrogen clouds.
