Description:
On the evening of June 5, planet Jupiter was 3 degrees to the upper left of the brighter planet Venus as observed from my front yard amongst my cacti. The 2 bright stars above and to the right of the planets are Pollux to the left of Castor, the Gemini Twins. Venus was 7 times brighter than Jupiter, 122 times brighter than Pollux and 233 times brighter than Castor on this evening. Over the next week Jupiter will be moving closer to the horizon each evening while Venus will be moving just a little bit higher each evening as they pass each other in a beautiful conjunction. On the evenings of June 8, 9, 10 the 2 planets will be 1.7 to 2 degrees apart as observed from Arizona.
