Location of Photo:

Vinhedo, Sao Paulo state, Brazil

Date/Time of photo:

June 30th, 2015 @ 18:49 local time, 21:49 GMT

Equipment:

Canon 40D DSLR, EF 28-135mm lens @ 75mm (120mm 35mm-equivalent FOV), Manfrotto tripod & ball head; 4 sec @ f/5.6 and ISO 800.

Description:

On the evening of closest approach of Venus & Jupiter, I tried to setup my tripod to have a view of the event near my neighborhood. After several wide-angle shots with a mirrorless Nikon camera, I used a longer lens on my DSLR for a more detailed view. The clouds prevented me from including M44 in the frames but I was able to include Regulus (alpha Leo). A bit unexpectedly, the clouds did provide some framing for this shot.
