Description:

Now that Comet Lemmon has passed by the Earth it will be moving quickly from our WNW (azimuth 290 degrees on the evening of Oct 22) evening skies to our WSW (azimuth 250 degrees by Nov 10) evening skies over the next several weeks. The best time to view the comet will be just as it gets dark at about 8pm (US daylight time) when the comet is about 13 to 18 degrees above the western horizon. On the evenings of October 27/28 the comet will be straight west, about 17 degrees above the western horizon at 8pm and the comet should be about as bright as it will get. Several days before Oct 27/28 and after Oct 27/28 the comet will still be almost straight west and about 17 degrees above the western horizon at 8pm. Binoculars or cell phone pictures will be needed for most to see the comet.
