Description:
This wide-field image captures one of the most fascinating regions between the constellations of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, where numerous emission nebulae and open star clusters are immersed in the rich stellar background of the Milky Way. Among the most prominent objects is the Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380) in the upper right corner (open the image to see it in greater detail), an active star-forming region illuminated by a young open cluster. Near the lower left edge lies the famous Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635), a spectacular bubble of gas sculpted by the powerful stellar wind of a massive star. To the right of the Bubble Nebula are the intricate structures of the Lobster Claw Nebula (Sh2-157), an extensive H II region characterized by its delicate hydrogen filaments.
