Upcoming Astronomy Events

As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.

Astronomical Society of New Haven's Connecticut Star Party 36

September 11 @ 3:00 pm - September 13 @ 11:00 am EDT

Connecticut Star Party. Enjoy the dark skies of Northwestern CT in Goshen, CT at the Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation. We have a huge, mostly level field to set up your telescopes with good views in all directions. There is room for tent camping around the field with a separate section for RVs. A warming tent will be available stocked with hot drinks and snacks. Showers and restrooms are a short walk from the field. Both bunk housing with mattresses and a meal plan for the weekend are available for additional fees. Saturday will be filled with speakers, a lively raffle and a fun group photo.
The dining hall is about a 10 minute walk from the observing field or a short drive using West Side Road. It's very difficult to find a good spot in our state, and we truly believe this is a good one! Registration is required.
