Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.
Big Lagoon State Park Star Gazes for the Summer of 2026

In cooperation with the Florida State Parks, the members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers Association invite the public to deep sky observing sessions at Big Lagoon State Park. This summer we will be setting up at the boat ramp parking lot. Just west of Pensacola, on the state line, this is one of the darkest sites on the Gulf Coast easily accessible by car or boat. We will pass out current star charts, do sky interpretation, and show smartphone users how to photograph the Milky Way and use our digital scopes to edit and save their own images of deep sky wonders above. Please remember state parks require you check in the gate before sunset, and Big Lagoon has a $6 per car fee.
