Bucharest Astroclub (Astroclubul Bucuresti)
Bucharest Astroclub (Astroclubul Bucuresti)
We pride ourselves as being one of the oldest astronomical societies in Romania, continuing the tradition of the Romanian Astronomical Society "Camille Flammarion", founded on the 27th of January 1908.
The club went through several transformations that brought us to our current status as an NGO, decreed on the 5th of April 1990, previously activating under the tutelage of the Astronomical Observatory "Admiral Vasile Urseanu", named in honour of the society's first president and one of it's founding members.
We are a diverse and inclusive association with members across the globe.
Our main objectives are:
- the observation of astronomical phenomena either as individuals or as a collective;
- public outreach;
- theoretical and practical workshops, coursework, education and observational sessions;
- organising stargazing events;
- scientific research;
- pro-am collaborations.
