Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.
Astro Society 2026: Astronomy@250
August 27 - August 29
The Astro Society 2026: Astronomy@250 is a virtual conference celebrating 250 years of astronomy in the United States. We're bringing together researchers, educators, amateur astronomers, and curious minds from across the community to honor the full, complex, and beautiful story of astronomy in the United States. We’re not just looking to the past 250 years, but to the future as well. Conference registration will open in early June.
Abstract submissions are now being accepted through June 9, 2026! Conference presentation formats will include 50-minute sessions as either an interactive panel discussion or an interactive workshop. We are also accepting submissions for poster presentations. All accepted presentations will be eligible for inclusion in the ASP Conference Proceedings as a record of the conference and a publishing opportunity for those making a presentation.
