As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.

In an age of rampant conspiracy theories, this talk discusses the "evidence" that is often put forward that the Moon landings were fake and how they can be debunked.

Our speaker Andrew Mowbray gives talks on astronomy and local history. He is also a fully qualified tour guide and gives walking tours in the City of Colchester in Essex.
He was Secretary and Webmaster of the Castle Point Astronomy Club for 15 years from 2005 to 2020. A retired IT Professional who worked mainly in local government and also taught IT for several years.
