Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

Iceland Eclipse
August 11 - August 15

From August 11-15, 2026, some of the greatest minds in music, arts, science, and wellness will come together for a four-day celebration of human connection and celestial wonder in the path of the solar eclipse in Hellissandur, Iceland. On August 12th at 17:45 UTC, totality will sweep across the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, bringing over two full minutes of darkness - one of the longest eclipse totalities in the world, thanks to our position at the westernmost edge of Iceland. This once-in-a-lifetime eclipse won’t return to Iceland until 2196, and it sets the stage for four days of magic and exploration in a land of volcanic majesty, ocean winds, and mythic beauty.
