Upcoming Astronomy Events

As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.

Nightfall 2026

November 6 - November 8

Nightfall 2026, hosted by the Riverside Astronomical Society and held annually in Borrego Springs, California. This fall star party and imaging conference is unique among star parties because it takes place at a desert resort that creates a dark, red-light-only environment throughout the hotel property and RV park for three nights. Held at the Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort in Borrego Springs, CA, Nightfall is a family-friendly event at a resort in the heart of an IDSC-recognized dark sky protected location.
This year's Premium Workshop features Jonathan Talbot. Jonathan is an avid astrophotographer with over 20 years of experience. Jonathan's topic at the workshop will be "Producing Beautiful Astrophotos from Less than Beautiful Skies".
In addition to the premium workshop, there are a number of free workshops available to attendees of Nightfall 2026. Come join us for the Saturday "starbeque" before you get lost in this beautiful desert night sky. There are lots of fun events scheduled for all interests and amateur astronomy levels.
