Upcoming Astronomy Events

As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.

Public stargazing at Alston Observatory

April 1 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm BST

Free

Join the professional Astronomers at Alston Observatory for this one of their monthly open evenings running through the observing season, October through April, usually on the first Wednesday of each month (second Wednesday in January depending).

These events offer an excellent opportunity for public members to visit this research-grade facility, enjoy a presentation suitable for novices and beginners, and explore the dark skies above using large telescopes.

Prior booking is required via the Eventbrite website, with tickets made available a few days after the previous month's event. Be aware these events are incredibly popular! Please ignore anyone claiming to be reselling these free tickets.
