Finger Lakes Instrumentation

Astronomical CCD cameras are becoming available with imaging sensors larger than a 35-millimeter film frame. Finger Lakes Instrumentation has released its new ProLine imaging system (prices start at $7,925 for the PL4021 model), supporting chips as large as Kodak's 36-by-48-mm, 40-megapixel KAF-39000 sensor. The camera line features download speeds of up to 12 megabits per second and a large internal frame buffer. Other features include a six-leaf shutter, three-stage thermoelectric cooler, and dual-sealed sensor and electronics chambers. A custom filter wheel and digital focuser are also available.
