My Solar-Spotters are white-light solar filters contained in foam-lined boxes that serve as both storage cases and integral components of the safety mechanism. Simply flip both cover flaps up and slide the unit over the front of your telescope — the internal foam holds the filter firmly in place, and the cover flaps block a wide area around the telescope, offering additional protection from inadvertent glances at the unfiltered Sun. Units are available for a range of optics from 50-mm finders ($39.95) up to 8-inch telescopes ($59.95); there's also a model for 50-mm binoculars ($49.95).
