The August 21st 2017 Solar Eclipse was my first experience of totality, and I couldn't have been more thrilled. It was also my first attempt to photograph the sun. I used a Sony a6000 with a 135mm Rokinon lens (effectively 200mm with an APS-C chip) and a homemade solar filter, all on a fixed tripod. Spot metering and auto-bracketing did the trick, and the images that I ended up with exceeded my expectations -- especially the post-totality sunspot photos. My grueling 943 mile drive (each way) from Phoenix, AZ to eastern Idaho was well worth it!
