Founded in January 1985, Arkansas Oklahoma Astronomical Society (AOAS) has been an active astronomy club for 22 years. We own and operate Coleman Observatory in honor of founding member Major Douglas C. Coleman who died in the crash of his F-4 jet during a routine training mission with the local 188th TFG out of Ft Smith, AR. Doug and co-pilot Capt. Richard Lumpkin were killed on June 5, 1985 near Waldron, AR.
