Description:

The asymmetric barred spiral galaxy, NGC 7479, is found in the constellation Pegasus. The asymmetric nature of this galaxy and the large degree of star formation suggests it underwent a merger with a small galaxy. The galaxy was discovered by William Herschel in 1784. This luminance image is a total of 10 hours exposure.
