Description:

I’ve really been enjoying an uncommon string of clear imaging nights. Cygnus is one of my favorite constellations due to the diversity of imaging targets, but this time of year for me, it lies almost directly overhead. This is especially important considering the trees in my backyard! The Gamma Cygni region has always had my interest…I love space dirt, and this area has plenty of it! The central star is extremely bright, and creates a challenge when trying to show all those faint, delicate details. While processing this image, the structures took shape, and began telling me a story about a dragon atop a pile of golden treasure, keeping a careful eye on her central jeweled orb. I present, A Dragon and Her Orb (Gamma Cygni region) in SHO, taken from my backyard over the nights of October 20-22, 2022. It’s incredible the tools available to amateurs that allow us to capture details that can tell a story from light years away! Ha 30x600, SII 6x600, OIII 6x600, 7 hours total integration Captured with TheSkyX: mount, camera control, @Focus3, Processed with PixInsight
