I chanced upon this photo while floating on a raft down the Snake River through the Grand Tetons. It was taken with an iPhone 13pro. I am looking west over the Teton Range. It is early morning and the Sun is directly behind my back. You can see an airplane traveling west right at the front of its white contrails which follow behind it off the top of the picture to far behind me. The sun behind me is being obscured by the plane’s contrails behind me such that it is projecting an exact linear shadow of the contrail AHEAD of the airplane . You can see this shadow along the path ahead of the plane all the way down to the horizon. The plane is traveling on the EXACT path of the sun (the ecliptic) across the sky. Crazy
