Description:
The sun unleashed a powerful X-class solar flare two days ago, February 10, 2024, peaking at 5:10 a.m. PST (1310 GMT) and triggering shortwave radio blackouts across South America, Africa and the Southern Atlantic. The solar flare erupted from sunspot area AR3576 — in the upper right of this photo, taken from our backyard (with a SeeStar "smart" telescope). Image is a stack of 300 video frames.
