Description:

This is my third try at photographing stars at night. For this attempt I visited Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada which is home to the worlds largest Dark Sky Preserve. It is truly inspiring to see the night sky without light pollution. On this particular night the Perseids were just starting and there were shooting stars everywhere it seemed at times. In the foreground of the photo are Mount Athabasca and Mount Andromeda on the edge of the Columbia Icefields. The Saskatchewan Glacier is visible to the lower right. Part of the lower mountains are illuminated by automobile headlights as they drove by on the highway behind me.
