Description:

These images of Comet 28P/Neujmin were collected at an altitude of 6 degrees in early morning twilight just after the Moon had set. Comet 28P/Neujmin was magnitude 16.3 and 242 million miles from Earth in these images, it had a 14 arc second coma around the nucleus. The comet was at perihelion in it's 18.43 year orbit this past March 2021 when it was 146 million miles from the Sun and brightened to magnitude 16. Comet 28P will make it's close approach to Earth in November 2021 at 205 million miles but will only be magnitude 17.
