Description:

In these images Comet C/2020 PV6 (PANSTARRS) is magnitude 14, 156 million miles from Earth, has a 22 arc second coma and a tail at least 0.25 degrees long at a position angle of 132 degrees from the coma. The comet will reach perihelion in September 2021 when it will be 212 million miles from the Sun in it's 270 year orbit. The comet made it's close approach to the Earth in July 2021 at 154 million miles. The comet will stay at about magnitude 14 thru September before it starts to get fainter as it moves away from the Sun and Earth.
