Description:

A very faint comet, C/2021 A2 (NEOWISE), was discovered by the NASA NEOWISE sky survey in January and made its closest pass to earth on February 3, at 74 million kilometers. I was able to remotely capture this 5 minute tracked exposure of the comet, which is the small green object at the center of the photo (arrow), using the iTelescope.net 150 mm refractor and color imaging camera, located at Mayhill, NM, on February 13. The comet was visible in the night sky at the edge of the constellation Orion and the brightest star in the photo (lower right) is HR 2235, an unnamed star just beyond Betelgeuse (which is not seen in this image). As of today, the Comet is 96 million km away and passing between the orbits of Earth and Mars.
