Description:

This area of the sky, the triple border of Monoceros with Gemini and Orion, contains lots of great nebulae, clusters, and other gas clouds that are worth the night out. The cone nebula, seen at the bottom of the red nebula (the tree), is located in Monoceros but close to the edges of the constellations of Orion and Gemini. It is about 2,300 light years away and form a part of the integral nebula forming the christmas tree. NGC2264 is the formal denomination of the xmas tree nebula. It is a H-II hydrogen region.
