Description:

This is a busy field with 9 NGC objects, the two most notable being NGC 2020 and NGC 2014. The giant red nebula (NGC 2014) and its smaller blue neighbor (NGC 2020) are part of a vast star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The bubble-like structure of NGC 2014 was formed by the grouping of stars on the lower left of the object. These are large stars, each 10 to 20 times bigger than our Sun. The radiation from these stars heated the surrounding dense gas and unleashed fierce winds of charged particles that blasted away lower-density gas, forming the bubble-like structures.
