The earthshine image was captured with 17 frames with the ASI2600MC camera and 80mm APO refractor, stacked in Astro Pixel Processor. 50% of the images from a one minute video were stacked using ASIstudio, and the two images were processed and combined using Photoshop.
Description:
In this composite image the faint glow on the partially shadowed 3 day old moon is earthshine, a reflection of light from the earth’s clouds and oceans on an otherwise dark moon. Below is a close-up of the bright crescent that details the many interesting craters that emerge from the waxing moon, inviting the viewer to ponder the history of these impacts on our celestial companion.
