Hazy skies make it difficult to get good photos, but I think these shots captured at mid-eclipse lend support to the claims that this was not a total eclipse. A bright sliver remained and was visible to the unaided eye and in binoculars, and it prevented the capture of deep red color without a flare on one side. The hazy sky made the bright edge more pronounced in my picture.

My daughter saw this eclipse in Oregon, and she didn't think it was total either, in spite of the predictions. She has seen many lunar eclipses, because I took her out to see all that occurred when she was growing up in Miami, FL.
