Description:

This is a wide field view that captures M16 (the eagle and its pillars of creation) located in the constellation Serpens, and M17, the swan, located in the constellation Sagittarius. M16 shines at magnitude 6 and spans at least 20' and likely distance of 5,700 light years from earth, while the swan (M17) shines at magnitude 6 and spans 11' in size. It is estimated that M17 is about 5,500 light years from earth. A total of 1,060" of live stacking in sharpcap. No post processing software used.
