Description:

The data for this image was acquired by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada's Robotic Telescope, which was based at Sierra Remote Observatories. The RASC makes this data available for purchase on their website. Commonly known as the "Bubble" Nebula, this is an area of emission nebulosity ionized by the star BD+60°2522. Presently weighing in at 45 M⊙ (solar masses) it has thrown off 15 M⊙ of matter, which has interacted with its surrounding interstellar medium to create a distinctive bubble shape!
