Description:

Omega Centauri is visible from the south of Illinois during part of May, and most of June for only a couple of hours, and only 3-4 degrees above the south unobstructed horizon. According to public information Omega Centauri shines at magnitude 3.9, measures approximately 36' and is located 17,090 light years away from earth. It is estimated to contain about 10 million stars. It is also our own galaxy largest globular cluster. It resides in the Centaurus constellation. I was lucky to have one single night to shoot it and I was able to see it and imaged it. Live stacking in sharpcap for about 15' and only background and light curves adjusted using adobe elements.
