Description:
Our angry sun up close. There has certainly been good activity on the sun lately, and yesterday there was an opportunity to see a very large area with new huge sunspots. The picture shows the sun in H-alpha light, just above the photosphere - by looking at the sun in this light we can see how the sun is certainly not a perfectly round sphere, but that there is a sea of activity on its surface. In addition, there were a lot of protuburances (ionized gas emanating from the surface). This area was certainly the most exciting to observe yesterday - the viewing often fluctuated quite a bit, and therefore i had to be patient when filming.
