Description:
This is a mosaic with the best photos of the planet that I got from May 23, 2023 until August 8, 2023, when it was a few degrees away from the Sun. The image shows well its phases, very similar to those of the Moon, and the increase in its apparent diameter caused by the approach to the Earth. From the left you can see the gibbous phase of Venus with an illuminated percentage of just over 50%, then the crescent phase in which the planet progressively reduces its percentage illuminated to become a very thin sickle. The phases of Venus were first observed by Galileo Galilei with his telescope in 1610.
