Description:

View to the south. In the centre of the image is the eta Carina Nebula in the band of the Milky Way, with the Large Magellanic Cloud to the right above it and a meteor in between, which was making its mark in the sky during the image. The second brightest star in the night sky, Canopus, can be seen at the top of the image, the Southern Cross above the trees at the bottom.
