The image was constructed from 60 x 5 minute exposures from an 8” LX200 ACF telescope with a focal reducer, and a ASI294MC Pro camera, and an Antila ALP-T duo narrowband filter, using an ASIAIR plus controller, an Ioptron CEM40 mount, a ASI294MC-Pro camera, and an ASI OAG with a ASI174mm mini camera for guiding. Processed with APP and PS.

Description:

This is Sh2-171, an emissions nebula in the constellation Cepheus, about 3000 light years from earth. If you look close at the upper left of the image you can see some pillars and “elephant trunks” which are signs of new star formation. Do you see the shape of an aardvark in this nebula?
