Description:
Quite a few solar prominences visible at the edges of the sun, even on a hazy, cloudy day in Alpine. Also notable is a coronal hole (arrow) which is currently emitting large flares and, as it moves into what scientists call "geoeffective" position could cause increased geomagnetic activity on Earth -- anything from prominent auroras to communication disruptions.
