Date/Time of photo:

October 26, 2023 at noon PDT

Equipment:

Lunt LS50 50 mm Hydrogen alpha pressure tumed refractor, ZWO ASI178MM camera, Skywatcher AZGTI mount with solar tracking, ASI Cap capture software, Pixinsight 1.8.9-2 processing software.

Description:

Quite a few solar prominences visible at the edges of the sun, even on a hazy, cloudy day in Alpine. Also notable is a coronal hole (arrow) which is currently emitting large flares and, as it moves into what scientists call "geoeffective" position could cause increased geomagnetic activity on Earth -- anything from prominent auroras to communication disruptions.
