Description:
3.5% illuminated Venus, 4th August Here's a colour shot of Venus in mid-afternoon, showing the delicate thin crescent of this Earth-sized planet as it heads between us and the Sun. Venus was 15 degrees from the Sun, standing directly above the Sun in my sky. I used the side of my garage to protect the C14 from the Sun. The horns of Venus are extending, measured stretching approximately 197 degrees round the circle, and at 55.4" was huge and barely fit on the camera chip! Celestron C14 at f/22, ZWO ASI462MC, UV/IR cut filter, ZWO ADC, 4x 30s exposure, processed in Autostakkert, Registax and Photoshop.
