Upcoming Astronomy Events

As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.

Home Educator workshop: Amazing Astronomy

Learn about William and Caroline Herschel’s remarkable discoveries in the house where they lived and worked.
In this 2 hour workshop, children will:

Learn about the history and importance of William and Caroline Herschel’s space discoveries
Explore the museum with a trail to complete
Complete a hands on space-themed activity
Open to home educated children, suggested age 7-11.

£6.50 per child, advance booking essential.
Once you have booked your ticket, please email [email protected] and let us know your child’s age.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (max. 4 children per adult).
Not suitable for children under 4.

Please note the museum is not wheelchair or pushchair accessible.
Sensory resources are available to support any children who may benefit from them.

Due to limited space on the workshop, please do not bring siblings who will not be taking part. (Please contact us if this presents a barrier to attendance).
