Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

"Observing the Brightest Objects in the Universe,"
Dr. Victoria (Vicky) Fawcett explores the nature and evolution of quasars, which are extremely luminous galaxies powered by supermassive black holes. Dr. Fawcett is an observational astronomer and a 2025 Caroline Herschel Prize winner who has recently transitioned to a fellowship at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Germany. Vicky is an Astronomer at Newcastle University, where she researches quasars: extremely bright galaxies powered by supermassive black holes. She is part of two major spectroscopic surveys: the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and the Multi-Object Optical and Near-IR Spectrograph (MOONS). She is also very involved in scientific outreach and has recently accepted a fellowship position at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Germany.
