Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

Pensacola Beach Star Gazes
June 23 @ 7:00 pm - June 24 @ 11:30 pm CDT
On the weekends of the first quarter moon, the Escambia Amateur Astronomers and the Santa Rosa Island Authority sponsor fre public starpazes at the Pensacola Beach Pavilion, behind the Beach Ball Water Tower. Parking is free as well. We set up large telescopes on the moon, planets, comets, and brighter deep sky objects. We distribute free current sky maps and calendars, solar eclipse filters, and give constellation tours of the skies overhead. In addition to visual observing, we invite you to join us in digital imaging with your smartphones with apps like Nocturne, Unistellar, and DwarfLab. You will come home with great photos you took yourself through our WiFi enabled scopes. We will often set up before dark if there were interestng spots and solar activity on the home star as well. If you want tips on learning to use your own telescope for observing and photography, bring it and let our experts advise you in best techniques.
