As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.

Pensacola Beach Star Gazes

On the weekends of the first quarter moon, the Escambia Amateur Astronomer's Association hosts free public star gazes on both Friday and Saturday evenings at the Casino Beach Pavilion, on the Gulf side of the Beach Ball Water Tower. Parking is also free. We will set up telescopes of various sizes and prices to allow you to view and image the heavens with your smartphones, so come with plenty of battery life and storage for photos! Free star charts, sky interpretation, and great views of the first quarter moon and planets, as well as brighter nebulae, clusters, and galaxies.
