Upcoming Astronomy Events

As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope’s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.

Winter/Spring Star Gazes at Big Lagoon State Park

March 28 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST

$6

With the cooperation of the Florida State Parks and their rangers, the Escambia Amateur Astronmers will host bi-weekly gazes under th darkest skies along the Gulf Coast. Join our not really wicked green (laser pointing) witch of the western sky, Amanda Shelnutt, as she and other EAAA members introduce you to the constellations, stars, deep sky objects, planets, and the moon. We pass our star charts, give you views of Jupiter and Saturn and the Moon through large telescopes, show you how to phorograph the constellations with your smartphones, imaging the deep skies with Unistellar eVscopes, See Stars, and Dwarf Labs digital cameras, and catch passing comets, meteors, and many satellites like the ISS. Due to camp reconstruction, this year we will use the East Beach site instead of the amphitheater. Please go to our Facebook page for a map of the new gaze site. These gazes will appeal to everyone from families with kids as beginners to accomplished astrophotographers who want to share their expertise with others and learn new tricks as well. All EAAA events are free, but the normal $6 per car park admission applies.
