Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

For the summer season, the Escambia Amateur Astronomers will host both Friday and Saturday night gazes at Big Lagoon State Park; these will be on the weekend of the third quarter moon for deep sky observing. Bring your scopes, binocs, cameras, smartphones for observing and imaging in this nice deep sky site, on the north end of the boat ramp access road. We have constellation tours, sky maps, satellite tracking, and instruction on using your telescope for beginners. Be sure to check in before sunset at the main gate.
