Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

Observing using the Isaac Newton Telescope : You just press the button, right?
Our speaker Julian Onions is an astronomer working at the University of Nottingham. He looks with what we think the universe was like in the early days and then apply the laws of physics, and let it run in a very big computer, then look at what we've got and see if its like what we see. An observing trip to the Isaac Newton telescope. I got a chance to do some observing with the 2.5 m Isaac Newton telescope, should be straightforward? Just click and point? Not quite!
So what does it actually take to set up and use a professional telescope?
How do you plan and execute an observing run?
Find out with this talk!
